Brown Belt it is....

Dalton achieved his brown belt tonight at karate class. Hard to believe that it is almost done ( and school that matter) for another year. As you can see by his little grin he was quite proud of himself too. He does a good job. He won't be returning to this class next year though. he has learned all he can here now and will be joining the class at the base that incorporates kick boxing. He is looking forward to that.

We might start at some point this summer but we will see how busy we are otherwise it will wait until fall. For him though it can't start soon enough. But I also tried to remind him that it will somewhat interfere with the activities that we plan on going and doing this summer. So he decided to pass until September.
He spent most of the year this year as a sempai. Helping to teach the others in the class. He enjoyed that too. Now all the kids are looking forward to the end of year pizza party next week!
He kills me with his proud little grin. Afraid to show how happy he is but just having a hard time containing himself.
So after the belts were all done the boys had their picture taken with Sensai. Tyson had to join in too!! Nick also got his brown belt and I expect that he might join Dalton in the fall too. We'll have to wait and see.

Mom and Dad are so proud of you Dalton!! We love you so much! XO

Kids..... christmas...

It is hard to believe that we influence our children as much as we do. I am amazed some days at the things that Tyson spits out. I know that he has heard it somewhere or is repeating what he has heard someone say. Sometimes I laugh and sometimes I just have to bite my tongue because it is funny but not for a four year old to be have it coming out of his mouth. Then I have to remind myself that he doesn't understand what he is saying and correct him or give him a warning on his behavior.

My favorite holiday of the year is Christmas. It was my birthday but that sucks now for so many reasons, I hate to bring them up. Regardless, we took the boys out for a drive tonight to see all the Christmas lights. I only have one more weekend off before Christmas. And I work a LOT of evenings. Works for our family. While we were out, Dalton asked about our Christmas tree. So we went looking for them while we were out. We didn't end up getting one tonight, but Dalton did.

He is nine now and wanted a tree for his room. A real tree!! I thought i'd die laughing. He went into home depot and bought himself one. Then asked his Dad to take him to dollarama to get some decorations and lights for it. So he did. Shaking his head, but he did it.

Dalton came right home and decorated it up and put it on his desk. Darin whispered to me that night after the kids went to bed. Looks like a Charlie Brown tree but he loves it!!He plugs it in as soon as he gets up in the morning and when he gets home from school. What a kid. he's his Mommy's boy!!

We we'll probably get a tree tomorrow after church. We'll see. Are you all starting to prepare for Christmas at your homes??

Crystals, oh what fun!!

Today Dalton wanted to make a crystal project from his book. He got this book with his passing money the second last day of school at the book fair. Only my kids wants to do projects in the summer.
I dunno.
Anyhow, I suppose he could be interested in worst things. So for some reason Tyson slept in this morning with dad and he decide that he wanted to get the book out and make one of the projects in it. So we did and this is how it turned out.
I must admit it was kinda cool.
First we started out with this little crate paper tree and a package of potassium. It all comes in the kit.
So he poured it on the dish and it slowly crept up the tree.
After about five minutes and the whole tree was wet, it started to form crystals on the ends of the tree.
After and hour it looked like it had snowed in the house. Just on this little tree. Like I said it was very cool. He was so excited about how it turned out. There are about 20 different types of crystals that he can make. I'm sure before the summer is out he will.
Without a doubt!

Monster Truck Madness!!!

Tonight we took the kids to the monster trucks at the KRock centre in Kingston. Tyson has never been and Dalton has seen them about 6 times I guess. It is something he loves to watch. We went with Mike and Tina and Jocelyn and their nephew. It was a good time.
This is Jocelyn. She loves my kids. Tyson was freaked out at first but got better as the night went on.
Can you tell it is about 945pm?? And he is getting tired??

This was the beginning before they had started the trucks and he was just watching thinking they were all cool!
My kids liked the 4 wheeler racing. Dalton liked the dirt bike jumping that used to do in the middle better than this. Maybe next time I have to say it wasn't the greatest just watching them drive around in circles.
Dalton loved Bigfoot and he won all the challenges for the night.
This was the pit party at the beginning before the show started. We got a few pictures. Dalton liked the transformer car show in the middle of the challenges. It was neat.
Hey Mike..... I am from the turd Galaxy..my little french buddy!

the hunt!!

Well today is Easter Sunday. Happy Easter sunday. My boys got up this morning promptly at 7:00am ready to start their hunt. After yesterday, Tyson is already and knows what to do. Away they went buckets in tow ready for hunt number two to begin! Like they needed more chocolate!
They looked high they looked low and about 2 hours after the hunt, Tyson was still turning up eggs from somewhere that he had found them. They had a great time. Tyson got his tractor (will post pictures for that next) for Easter and Dalton got a video game for his wii. Ben 10. Each a big bunny and eggs!
Tyson was eating them we had to watch with the tin foil on!! YUK!!

What Dalton missed low Tyson found and what Tyson couldn't see above Dalton helped out!
We had a great Easter day. After breakfast together, the boys and I went to church. Then to Mom & Dad's for the final Easter hunt of the day. Gifts from Aunty Tracey and Uncle Ed. More easter eggs! And lunch.
After that it was home to pick up Dad and then to Napanee for Grandma's Easter dinner. It was a long day and the kids literally fell into bed at 8pm.
I hope you all had a great Easter day and celebrated what was important to you.
As Paster Mark said...it was only good Friday.... but Sunday was a comin'
Happy Easter.

P.A. Day already!!

Hard to believe that the kids have a PA day already. They just went back to school a few weeks ago. Am I seeing something wrong with this picture? So we decided to meet nanny and Poppa and Jesse at the pirate ship park so the kids could play. It was busy. The kids had a great time and wore themselves out running around. they wanted me to take a few pictures of them being silly. Doing what they do best so..... here they are.....

Tyson has more and more fun every time we go there. As he gets older he finds out more about how things work. This time it was the whale on a spring. He thought that was the greatest thing ever once he figured out how to rock himself back and forth. He has the baby one at home that plays music. So he though this one was great!

John's last day

Today was Johnathan's last day to be with the kids. He had a great summer here and we had a great time too. So today to make things special we went to Kingston to the mini golf/ go cart/ movie/ amusement ride park. Then to Chucky Cheese. The boy's all of them had a great time. First they rode on the go carts. Their package included 6 laps but it wasn't busy so they both got 8.
Johnathan was big enough he got to ride alone.
But Dalton had to ride with me while John stayed with Tyson. He was laughing the whole time watching us kids play. He unfortunately wasn't big enough yet.
Then they decides to go to the amusement rides. They rode so long on most of them that they got sick of it. Ever heard of such a thing? The rides lasted at least five minutes each. They got eight rides a piece.
They went on the scrambler twice, the big slide once, the spider 3 times, and the tilt a whirl twice. The spider was their favorite.
Dalton liked the big slide. He always does. Tyson would have liked that one too but we went and played in the water park instead while the boys went on the rides.
After the rides, they went to play their game of mini gold. that too came in their package. All for $20.00 each, I didn't think that that was bad at all. And they had tons of fun for the day.
Then by that time they were all starving! Or at least whining about it. So we headed over to Chucky Cheese. They choose a peperoni pizza and played a bunch of games. We got home about 5pm so I think it was a good last day.
We only had one problem all day.....

Chucky the mouse came in our row. Just our row and this was what happened!

Tyson absolutely freaked out. He hated that big Ol' mouse! So he didn't come anywhere near him after that, and trust me Tyson watched everywhere he went! The kids had fun though and we had a great summer. Thanks John!

Woo Hoo back to school Tuesday!

Grandma's birthday!

The last birthday of the month. Grandma Martin's.
Dalton made her a cake today. It was chocolate with strawberry jam in the middle, on the top. With strawberries and whip cream on the top. It was much prettier before I took the picture. It was a hot day and it started to melt! He did a great job though and I was quite proud of him. It was really good too!
We got invited for supper too. I can't remember what she called it but it was good. It had chicken, baby mushrooms and onions and was in a delicious gravy. Darin's mom is such a good cook. I don't think I have ever had anything bad at her house. (Except cottage roll) but I hate that regardless and up until A couple of years ago I ate it anyway until Darin told her.

We finally figured out what to do with Tyson. Dalton put him on the leash at Grandma's and Tyson loved it he was treating it like a bungee cord. He would run to the end of it until it knocked him down and then laugh his head off. Is that considered abuse? He was laughing his head off! We couldn't stop laughing at him laughing! He still didn't manage to wear himself out though.
One final birthday wish and a kiss for Granny!

Happy Birthday Mom! Thanks for supper! It was yummy!

Off to the trailer he goes!

Yesterday Dalton was invited to Nanny's & Poppa's trailer. We were in town already and didn't have his stuff packed, so he couldn't go back with them. They were having the kids fishing derby. Dalton participated last year in it and had a great time.
Anyway, I packed up Daddy's saddle bags with clothes and pj's etc and Daddy and he went for a long bike ride. Dalton thought that was great. He really enjoyed himself. he likes to ride on the back of the bike and his tiny fanny actually fits on it!
Nanny met them at the top of the trailer park so they wouldn't have to wake everyone up. It was early when they took off. Jesse was at the trailer too which made it all the more fun for Dalton.
Unfortunately, the weather was very windy and they had to cancel the derby for the kids. No matter though, Dalton had a great time anyway!!
Thanks Nanny & Poppa!!

LIBRARY CARD!!

Library card.
That was the most exciting thing that happened today.
For Dalton anyway. He was so excited. We recently (just this year) got a new library in Belleville. I am really wanting him to keep up his excellent reading ability over the summer. So I asked him if he would like to get a library card. of course he said yes! So today we went and got him one. He was so proud of himself!
The woman at the library was happy to see a young man so excited about getting a new library card. She showed him how to find a book on the computer...
Apparently no more card catalogue like when we were kids! Now he can just type in the kind of book he wants and it tells him where to find it.
She also showed him how to find his favorite section of books, trucks. Also where all the new books go before they are ready for distribution. He was able to join a book club to win prizes. For every ten books he reads or has read to him, he gets a ballet for a prize. They have 12- 15 different things for the kids to choose from. For example, wonderland tickets, supper out, movie tickets, Ontario place tickets, theatre tickets and so on.
So on his first visit to the library we left with four books. He read one on the way home. For a boy who said he only reads because I want him too he was pretty excited about it. When I asked him how he liked that library compared to his school library he said "Mom... it rocked"
So now this will be a weekly trip that we will stop and do regularly. It seems that he is eager to go again. I won't tell him he is learning! It will wreck the whole adventure for him!

Odds and ends to happenings of the weekend....

*EDIT* I was allowed to add a title a few days later, I don'y have any idea what is going on with blogger, one day I can't log in the next it is something else!
I cannot type in the title box for this post. I don't know why. Weird.
So today I have a long day of cleaning house, doing laundry, making supper and having a yard sale. I think though the yard sale is a bomb. It is the long weekend and it appears that most people are away. A few stragglers have been by but not to many and made nothing. better luck next time I guess.
Darin and Dalton have gone up to Crow lake fishing with Darin's cousin Tim for the day. They enjoy to go together.
( Update.. when they got home Dalton said he and Tim weren't much of a fisherman because Daddy was the only one who caught anything..)
So hopefully they all have fun. I don't expect to see them until later tonight. It is starting to pour here good thing I just cleaned up. I hope the boys don't get wet. I sent lots of lunch and sunscreen but no coat. It wasn't suppose to rain??
Crazy weather.
So I have no pictures.Nothing exciting enough to take a picture of.
Have a great Saturday! Hope yours is a little more exciting than mine!

First Day of holidays!!

Today was the first day of summer holidays. Officially. Dalton got to have the extra day yesterday for Great Grandma's funeral. So today we did something special.
We went to the Kinsman park. The kids love it there. They have a fountain and a pool and lots of equipment for them to play on. We met Grandma and Jesse there. So Dalton was so happy about that. He loves when he gets to spend time with Jesse.
This is the fountain that he kids love to play around in....
This is the play ground equipment that Tyson loved to have Nanny and I chase him on and around.
Nanny and Tyson snuggling up after freezing in the fountain water.
Apparently the water wasn't too cold for the bigger boys.
Today has been a ridiculous day. Dalton's ears have been in his fanny and I have already had to remind him what his holidays are going to be like if it continues. After we went to the park and had a great day, we went and had our hair cut. That chore with Tyson just doesn't get any easier.
We also had a few errands to run. Dalton just continued to get worse as the day went on. At Canadian tire he found out how bad his day was going to get. I let him misbehave and then we went to the van. Quite honestly I was sick of speaking to him.
He got a little surprise that he wasn't expecting when he got into the van. Needless to say we managed to finish our errands without anymore incidents. And he was good once we got home.
Oh lord help me with the rest of the summer holidays and either help the child to behave or me to have some more patience.
I am generally good and don't get too frustrated with Dalton because he is good, but probably after having to be so good yesterday he just couldn't help but let loose today.
Here's to better summer holidays!

Guess who passed into grade 2!!

Well today was report card day. Dalton came home as proud as a peacock!
He has passed into grade 2 in the fall. Today he took flowers into Ms. Koekman. This is her. And also for Ada. She is his school bus driver. I love her. She is the greatest bus driver ever. Even though Dalton has the shortest bus ride of everyone in the school. We can stand in our front yard and see the school yard. Because we are a country school and there are no sidewalks, safety with the school board states that he must take the bus. He likes to anyway.
So we got him a little present for passing. Something he wanted. We rented him a game way back on March Break. he loved it. Bionicles "heroes". I have been watching on eBay since then. I got a great deal on one. It is $45.00 at Walmart and I got it brand new in wrap on eBay for $20.00 woo hoo! He wasn't sure what it was except a game when he opened it.

As you can see he was so happy.

Dalton's marks were good and I was proud of him. He got all A's & B's , and that lingering C in gym. I told him that as long as he got all A's & B's in everything else I would never complain about that "C".
Now just three more days of school until summer starts and Mom's everywhere go insane and wish for fall!

Hot tub fun!!

Today was a busy day. I did laundry and lots of it. There never seems to be an end to it when you have small kids. Regardless, Darin had made plans to build a trailer with Scott this weekend for the guys to do sap with in the spring. So they worked away at it all day and then we went over to Scott and Colleens' for supper.
Dalton loves to go over to their house because they too have a pool but also a hot tub. I have been trying to get in it since they bought it. When they did I was pregnant with Tyson and just always have forgotten my suit. Well, Colleen had a suit I could use so I had no excuse. So I went in. I must say that I did enjoy it very much.
Tyson liked it at first but wasn't too sure after that and spent his time coming in and out and in and out. Dalton of course had a great time and ran back and forth from the pool to the hot tub. I expect he will have a cold this week because the pool wasn't near as warm as the hot tub.
See Tyson hamming it up for the camera! Flexing his muscles.

Poppa Scott snuggling him. Tyson was wanting down so he could run...run...run!

Shhhhh... don't tell Colleen I posted her picture she will kill me she hates her picture taken.
Then Ty got a little snuggling from her. See his cheek he fell earlier in the day and smacked his cheek on the metal leg of the lawn chair. OUCH! That's going to leave a mark.
So after that we headed home and Scott will be back out tomorrow to finish working on the trailer!
Shawn and Leslie ( their daughter and her fiance) are moving to Belleville at the end of the week. They have purchased a house here. So Colleen and Scott are looking forward to that and getting them settled.
So are we because we love them both. And Dalton thinks the world of Shawn. He has been to Iraq twice. He parachutes in to rescue P.O.W'S. I don't think you could have given me his job. So he is Dalton's "hero". And who better than him. Shawn can't wait to have kids of his own.
So I am heading to bed have a great weekend everyone!!
