Things are starting to happen.....

Well.... it seems like it has been forever, but not really. I know. We have signed a contract for Dor-Ann homes to build us a new house. We are just waiting for the insurance company to hand over some cash. And everything goes as slow as a turtle. But I must say we haven't had bad luck so far compaired to other peoples nightmare stories of insurance companies and adjusters. Ours is great and when I have a question he is great to explain it.

We decided to go with a high ranch home. We are thinking it will be much better. We had replacement cost on our house which means we can replace it with a 1 1/2 storey like we had but the problem is it cost twice as much to build one. We are happy with the high ranch we got everything we want in it. it may cost us a little but we don't mind, if we are going new we are going to get what we want now instead of coming back in a few months to redo it.

Now it seems the city has a problem and the building permit is up in the air. It is always something I tell ya. The guy that is looking after it at Dor Anne ( Jamie) has had to resubmit it twice.

Things are exciting no matter though. I picked flooring, cupboards, and paint colours last week so the hardest part for me is almost done. Darin doesn't care much about that sort of stuff. He is colour blind. I love the house lay out, and the typical highranch has the stupid entrance that no one can get in so we extended the doorway by 3 feet so the entrance is actually 7 feet deep. There is only one other house around like it. I don't know if you have ever been in a high ranch before but, we have now have an extra large front entrance. Instead if it going in around the jut outs, it comes out past them. You can see by the floor plan.

I think that I am going to love my new house. And to think I won't have to dust everyday! ( old houses are the worst)

Accommodations

Well, these are our new accommodations until the house is constructed. it's live able. It has a living room, eat in kitchen, One bedroom with two sets of bunk beds, another with a double bed, and a full bathroom. It'll do for now. we can manage just fine. The kids love the bunk beds and think that they are camping!
So for now.. we are trailer trash! In the nicest of ways. If you have ever seen the trailer park boys ( I haven't) but everybody calls Tyson bubbles, Darin Randy, me Lucy and Dalton i can't remember, the guy with the sideburns anyway.
So there we have it....

Mother's Day....trailer time....

Mother's day was like no other this year....
We spent the night at the trailer, yes with no heat and no hydro.....Shhh don't tell the neighbour that we ran an extention cord over. haha. Gloria knew we love her! We needed some quiet time. We love Scott and Colleen but it is just time to get home! It has been six weeks since the fire and we just need to be home.
Soon just waiting for Hydro then they can bring propane. next week... pray next week.
mother's day was good. We have all been so busy that we kind have forgotten about it. i got my mom a gift a couple of weeks ago when I saw it. Darin's Mom we got her a photo box filled with flowers.
We went to Walmart last night and Dalton was so upset that he only had the stuff that he make for me at school, that he wanted to buy me something. I made the mistake of commenting on the flowers. He asked me for his wallet so he could see how much money he had. i told he he wasn't to spend his money on a gift. So we spent Daddy's. He didn't want me to see what he had picked but since he is just seven uhhhh no getting away with that. I told him i was happy with what he brought home but that wasn't good enough he wanted to buy something. So he was happy.
We went to church with Ken and Ethel and then out to Mcdonalds for lunch then home to get at the yard. it is a disaster area because of the mess from the house. It was a great mother's day though no matter. We got carnations at church. mark is away on holiday. With losing his Mom and wife, both this past year, I'm sure that today is a hard day and my thoughts and prayers are with him.
So I hope you all had a great day and that the weather soon warms up. Hope that hydro comes soon!
HAPPY MOTHER"S DAY!

So it is time.....

I am finally at a place now that things are starting to come together that I feel I need to tell everyone who has helped us how important they are to us. There is nothing like putting your entire life into a dumpster that brings you to that place!
So last Wednesday they brought us a trailer to live in. One draw back it is really cold and we have no hydro yet. They hooked it all to the trailer but hydro one has to come and hook it to the panel in the garage. And if you know anything about how they work they come whenever they feel like it! Not a moment sooner! We have water because they hooked us the plumbing ...so just the hydro!
So hopefully we will be home soon!
Don't get me wrong. We have been staying with Colleen and Scott and they are great but there will be nothing like just being at home..whatever that is and just being able to relax. I am tired of being tired and stressed and just tired of being at my kids. We don't have to be at the kids, Scott and Colleen love them because they are who they are but I know deep down they too will be a bit happy to see us go. It's hard having kids around all the time when yours have been gone for years. I just have this need to make them behave better because we are at their house.

So on to my thank you's !!!!

Scott and Colleen of course for putting up with all of us and putting your life on hold while ours is in total chaos! For watching the kids and keeping their lives as "normal" as we can. For just plain loving us!

My Mom & Dad. For helping with the kids, for loving us! For giving up their house for donations and stuff! The babysitting, the laundry, the time to wash the favorite blankets and see if you could save them.I can't name all the things. Making the little things matter just as much as the big!
Just for being my Mom and Dad. I love you and can never thank you enough.

My brother and Sister in law. Thank you for making sure that the kids had Pj's to wear to bed the first night! That Dalton had clothes for school the next day. And just taking the time to make sure that we knew you were there if we needed it! I can't thank you enough for that. My kids thank you too!

Tracy and Kevin. The neighbours. They have had our dog since the very first day. I am hoping since we got stairs today that the dog can come home to the trailer tomorrow. He should be OK if it is a little cold. Won't be long we will hopefully be home with him!
For making sure we had pj's that night, supper in our bellies and for the phone usage, the hydro for our freezer and for the toothbrushes! I don't know what we would have done that first night. You were thinking when I was so upset. I love you and am glad that I have a friend like you. I hope that someday I can return half the favour!

Angie. I don't know what to say. My secretary for the first few days. My salvation for a few. My friend. I love you too! Enough said!

Darin's Mom for making sure Tyson had his favorite John Deere blanket back since his burnt up. And helping get stuff picked up around the house. For being my Alli!

And others, Burnard and Shirley Foley, Aunt Ruth, Aunt Leona, Aunt Pat and Uncle Don, Ethel & Ken White, Bridget and Don, Amber, Buck and Shirley Foley, Troy Foley and his girlfriend. Friends of mine from work, Sherri Wells, Cindy Wells, Kelli Akey, Donna McKeown.

Special people of Belleville Westlyn Church who generously donated to our family and gave us the love of the church. Pastor Mark who was right in there with us getting dirty helping out those first few days after the fire. Bringing the kids treats and hats. Your a special guy Mark. There is a reason you do what you do.

Carolyn Kelly and her family. For building Dalton up so high that he has the confidence to do anything. For acknowledging kindness and doing the same.

There are so many people that I am sure I have forgotten but you'll get added later or a thank you special to just you in the mail.
We cannot thank everybody enough and all of your kindness is overwhelming.

With that said!!!

GET YOUR HAMMERS OUT!

We love you all.......Diana, Darin, Dalton and Tyson
