Grandma's birthday!

The last birthday of the month. Grandma Martin's.
Dalton made her a cake today. It was chocolate with strawberry jam in the middle, on the top. With strawberries and whip cream on the top. It was much prettier before I took the picture. It was a hot day and it started to melt! He did a great job though and I was quite proud of him. It was really good too!
We got invited for supper too. I can't remember what she called it but it was good. It had chicken, baby mushrooms and onions and was in a delicious gravy. Darin's mom is such a good cook. I don't think I have ever had anything bad at her house. (Except cottage roll) but I hate that regardless and up until A couple of years ago I ate it anyway until Darin told her.

We finally figured out what to do with Tyson. Dalton put him on the leash at Grandma's and Tyson loved it he was treating it like a bungee cord. He would run to the end of it until it knocked him down and then laugh his head off. Is that considered abuse? He was laughing his head off! We couldn't stop laughing at him laughing! He still didn't manage to wear himself out though.
One final birthday wish and a kiss for Granny!

Happy Birthday Mom! Thanks for supper! It was yummy!

Sharbot lake.

We went to Sharbot lake this weekend to the cottage of the Goodfellows. We had a great time. This is a view of the lake from their deck. I love it there. You can listen to the loons in the early morning. And when your swimming in the lake they will come up to within 50 feet of you. Sometimes closer. the kids love it there. They can swim, kayak, play outside, ride bikes, you name it! That is when Dalton and Nick don't have something to bicker about! They can't wait to see each other but by the time the weekend is up they are sick of each other.

Some kayaking fun, we went on a little run down the lake Dalton and I he likes that. Darin can't stay upright in one so I guess that is the burden I bear. hahaha. Dalton loves being outside and doing things that he can't do at home so he was so happy when Terry got out the kayaks!

A little view of the cottage from the lake. The ambitious ones waiting on the shore. Afraid to get wet! Terry and Steph put a new addition on the cottage this year as you can see. It is really nice now. They can bunk up a bunch of people now if they so choose. Next year they will extend the deck and finish the things that they didn't finish this year. No matter it is really nice already.

Terry and Tyson just chilling after Terry arrived. He loves them and just climbed all over them both all weekend!

Thanks Terry and Steph what a great way to start out my holidays!

Sad day...

Today is a very sad day. My Mom and I just attended the Pastor's wife Trisha Sullivan funeral. She passed away Monday. It is quite shocking and hard to believe. Apparently she had a hernia and her bowel had a blockage because of it getting twisted. And she was very full of infection and died. She was 45. Her birthday is in a couple weeks.
I feel so bad for her daughters, 16,18,20. Not to mention Mark they would have been married 25 years this year. I was so warmed by the outcome of the funeral. The church, both levels were packed. They had a tv live feed. And the gravesite was packed too! It is nice to know that those who support you you can return the favour even if at this time it is the most difficult.
She was a good person, a great singer and she will be sorely missed! I know that heaven will be a better palce with her there! We will miss her here too!
Trisha may your smiling face and beautiful voice always be remebered by those who loved you! And the lives you touched are better because they met you.

Water park....

Today I had to work at 3pm but we thought that we would make the most of the day that we had. It was so warm. So we got up first thing this morning and prepared some stuff to take to the new Trenton water park. the kids had a great time. We called Evelyn and Nick to join us. Nick knew yesterday and was bugging Grandma as soon at he got to her house at 7:30am about when I was going to call.

So once I called he was even more excited. We met up about 10:30 am and the kids were hard to contain after that. Once we got to the park they had so much fun we couldn't hardly tear them away except to tell them that we were going to McDonald's for lunch.
This is the whole park, you can't see everything I know but it gives you an idea of why the kids had so much fun! They have so many different things. A giant dumping bucket. Sprayers. Misters for the little ones, fountains out o the floor, etc. Something for everyone!

Frog head mister!

Tyson wasn't as keen as the bigger kids at playing. He found the water a little bit intimidating and cold so he was happy to sit and watch.. and snack!

Following our play, we went to Micky D's for lunch. The kids had a great day and they can't wait to go again! It was a fun way to spend my day with my kids before I had to go to work!

Visit with Aunt Leona.....

Well we finally got to Mom's we had to wait a few more minutes still until they got there. The boys had tons of fun playing around while Aunt Leona watched. and laughed. She said i should be a size two after watching Tyson go all afternoon. I wish! Trying to get a decent picture of them all together was another challenge yet! You know how Tyson is with pictures and cooperating!

Finally a good one!

I guess Aunt Leona will be back in September. We will miss you!

Lunch and the park....

Since
Darin had the day off we though that we would make the best of it. He was off and to be quite honest I'd rather not get into why. But he did so we spent the day together as a family so no matter what the reason I won't complain.
The boys took me out for a belated lunch at the Chinese food restaurant. It was good. I didn't post any pictures because Dalton was just plain being goofy! While we were at the restaurant, my Mom called to tell us that my Aunt Leona was at her house for the day. They were just heading out to lunch but they would be back shortly if we were in town and could stop by and see her. She lives in Woodstock which is quite a ways away. So we did we just had to waste some time until they got home. So we went to the park and burned off some energy and calories!

The boy has no fear I swear! He just kept climbing!!
Then Dalton and I went on the teeter todder.

A little more than he bargained for I think!
Then a little sliding fun. Whew it was getting hot by the time we were done so we were glad to get to Nan's for a cold drink!

Check Up!! MORE BIRTHDAYS.....

Today Tyson had to go back to Dr. Brown for his check up. (Tubes) Hard to believe it has been 8 weeks already. So while we wasted some time waiting for him Tyson had a little ride on the "Big Brute" He didn't like it much when it was moving but though it was pretty cool to sit in! Kids!

Today is also his godfather's birthday. So after his appointment we walked over. It isn't far from the Dr's office. Darin was off today so, he and Dalton dropped Ty and I off and they went over a head of us. We weren't too far behind them. The boys got Scotty some non-alcohol beer. Wanna be beer we call it. he can't have the real stuff because of medication. He likes the wanna be stuff though.
So the kids wished his love and kisses and we were on our way for the rest of the day.

Happy birthday Scotty!! Kisses!

My Birthday!!

Well today is my birthday. It's almost over now..
Angie & Ethel took me out for lunch, we went to East Side Mario's.
We all had a delightful sandwich and soup combo and some desert. Yup I blew my "eating sensible" I shared a peanut butter and chocolate layer cake slice with Ethel!
Angie got me a gift certificate, and a scratch ticket. Ethel paid for my lunch and got me a really cool box of various cards. From others I got, money from my parents and grandparents, gift card from my brother and his family. My Godparents gave me some timmies gift certificates, Scott & Collen gave me a nice shirt from Northern.
I had a great day even though after lunch I had to go to work! That's OK though I start holidays next week! Ethel and I both thought about taking pictures after lunch!! Duhhhhhh.
THANKS FOR A GREAT AFTERNOON GIRLS! I LOOK FORWARD TO THE BEACH IN A COUPLE WEEKS!

It Passed & A couple layouts...

Well, my van passed the emissions test, after we got on a new oxygen sensor. Ugh!! Regardless I can drive it for another two years!
As I mentioned before it is my godparents anniversary this Friday, as well as my birthday. Well last Sunday they had their party. I took some pictures and framed a couple of layouts for them as a gift!
I don't know how you all photograph your layouts but mine never look as good here as they do in actuality!

Happy 50th Aunt Shirley & Uncle Bun!

Birthday supper & etest...

Well with my birthday just a few short days away, Darin got busy checking out my van for final emissions testing today. So we got up this morning and headed to the garage to get it done. in Ontario as some of you know we have to have this test done to make sure your vehicle isn't making too many emissions in the air. Anyhow, mine failed!! I was so upset. come to find out all it needed was an oxygen sensor. We thought maybe it had been going for a while. But didn't know for sure. Anyway almost 200.00 later after the tests and plates and sensor, I can drive my van!
Tyson didn't care he was happy playing with the toys at the garage..

Tonight we had Terry & Steph up for supper, they are our friends that live down the street. We enjoyed BBQ beef ribs, and beef roast. Roasted potatoes, homemade bread, cauliflower & broccoli with cheese sauce and here goes my exercising... chocolate cake and ice cream. Since I work on Friday for my birthday I though we would have cake tonight. All of supper was great if I can say so myself.
Dalton commented that I always make everybody else's cake why didn't I make my own. I told him that if I had to make my own cake it would ruin the fun of it. I must say, the cake was good too. I was good though only had a small piece!

As you can see from Tyson, he enjoyed wearing it almost as much as we did eating it! If you didn't know better, you would have though it was his birthday!

So Happy Birthday to me. On Friday Angie & Ethel are taking me out for lunch before I go to work. I cannot wait! I love my special friends. I am looking forward to spending time with them!

The Anniversary party...

These are my godparents. Mr & Mrs. Bernard Foley. This photo was taken 50 years ago. Hard to believe eh? Yup, they have been married 50 years. What a challenge in todays society. I was born on thier anniversary. My parents and them have been friends for years. At least for 36 anyway.

Funny how appearances change and age but are still so familiar in characteristics. My Uncle is still as handsome as he ever was. And my Aunt still hates to smile. Some of the pictures are not that great because the lighting in the hall was really terrible.

There are many things that I could tell you about my Aunt and uncle but I'll keep it short. My uncle bought me my very first car at sixteen. Took me three months to save the money to fix it up and drive it but I did it! And kept it until I was almost 19. 1971 Pontiac lemonze. An old boat but it got mine and my friends fannies to college.
Then it was time for a new car because that one died. I was so greatful to them. And they were proud of me for working so hard to keep up my end of the deal and save the insurance, drivers ed, and gas!

Well, I hope that they have a great day on their "actual" anniversary. I know that their party was a great success!
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY AUNT SHIRLEY & UNCLE BUN!
WE LOVE YOU!

My pride & Joy!

Today we have an Anniversary party to go to. My Godparents have been married 50 years. Can you imagine? I cannot. Not that that is a bad thing, it just seems like forever. Anyway, for a change my boys were actually clean and reasonably dressed up for the party so we stopped at the park and took a few pictures of them together.

Trying to get Tyson to sit still for more than two seconds to get a good picture is a miracle as you can see.

This park is in my old neighbourhood. At one time is was just an empty lot. Amazing how things can change in just a few years. It is actually a great place to have pictures taken now and many people have their wedding photos done here. The sun was actually shining so Dalton is squinting. But that was OK a good picture none the less.

And the wiggler..

Again with the eyes shut or this picture would have turned out great. no matter. They look great!

Costco & a Drive....

We didn't have much to do today so we decided to take a little drive to Costco and Princess Auto. I love Costco but, I always spent too much money! This time though for a change it was Darin. They had 12000BTU air conditioners on sale for $299.00. And we needed one for those really hot days in the living room. We were satisfied with our little one in our bedroom but when Darin saw that deal he couldn't not get one.
So since we had nothing to do, Darin decided to go for a drive. It was a rainy crappy day anyway and cold! So there wasn't much to do anyway. Here we are buying and air conditioner and we are wearing jeans! In July! Like that makes any sense at all. We used our pool more in June that we have this month. That makes no sense at all, come to think or it!
Regardless the heat will come and soon enough. So we took a drive up to Sharbot lake. That is were our friends, Terry and Steph have their cottage. We stayed for about and hour and travelled on. They added a new addition to it and it is coming quite nicely now.
We headed home slipping by Marlbank where Darin used to live and he visited a few friends.
Then it was home for a little supper! A hot one at that!

parade & fireworks

Today was the official opening of the Waterfront festival. It was the parade which officially starts it all. After the parade they have the ethnic food tents, lots of vendors selling things, and the fireworks. There are also lots of kids things the rides, children's character shows and that sort of stuff. For the adults they have lots of ethnic dance, music and those sorts of things going on.

So tonight we went again! First the parade. Colleen Tyson's godmother came out for supper because Scott was away and we enjoyed the night with her. Daddy was to tired to join us and spent the night home in peace and quiet!

So on to the parade!

This was the sea cadets from Kingston...

And this is the Belleville Shriners. They do lots for the disabled children in the Quinte area.

Tyson waiting ever so patiently watching for someone or something he likes!

Oh wait a second...who is that lady on the far side of that banner....

"IT"S NANNY!!"

And here are some Canadian soldiers.

I didn't take pictures of the Budweiser girls which was much to Darin's disappointment. I'll just tell you though the one girls left very little to the imagination!

After the parade we walked down to Zwick's island for some ethnic snacks. We also went through the vendor tents. We got some bedazzles for our crocks. Dalton loves them, I love my little Tim Horton's one. We got one for Colleen too!
We enjoyed some Dutch donuts and Dalton had an ice cone. We played a couple of games and then wandered around the park until it was time for the fireworks. They were excellent. We had the best seats. We sat directly under them. We laid on the grass and they were right over our head! What a show we know where to sit next year! I remembered to turn the flash off on my camera so the pictures actually turned out. Sort of! The whole evening was a good time! These fireworks are my favorite! This is when my batteries in my camera went dead! Isn't that always the way!
And then we packed up and came home....
Thanks Colleen for the best night ever! We had tons of fun!

Belleville Waterfront Festival and Folklorama

This weekend starts the annual Waterfront festival. For some people it was just a good time the get plastered. But this year they changed the whole set up and there wasn't any bands past 11pm so that it was going to be a "family" weekend. More about the actually festival and not all the drunks wandering around.
So tonight started out with the $24.00 bracelet waterfront warm up. The kids all buy the band and can ride unlimited rides until 10 pm.
Darin was working so I took the kids. Tyson isn't fond of that sort of stuff but he liked to see all the kids and watch the rides. Dalton on the other hand LOVES the rides.
So we got there around 4pm and stayed till about 8:30 pm when all the teenagers started to arrive and take over the park. No matter, Tyson had had enough and it was bed time. So Dalton got a good amount of riding in. We lost count after 30 or so rides.
ZERO GRAVITY
This particular ride was Dalton's favorite this year. He went on it at least 15 times! He had never been big enough to get on it . He is the 4the fellow in from the left on the top. No fear.
He liked the train roller coaster too but he said it was a little babyish for him....what like he is 20??? Kids I tell ya!
As you can see by the clouds behind Dalton we though that it was going to thundershower for a bit but it passed right by us! Thank goodness! When we came home, it had rain quite heavily here.

We ran into friends of ours Sue & Jeff and their kids. So Dalton went around with them for a bit . The boys jumped around in those air castles so hard that I felt bad for any other kids inside with them.

Tyson though the best part of the whole night was the slushy and the french fries! He had fun too despite that he doesn't like the rides!
There will be lots to share with Waterfront so stay tuned!
