Rain rain go away...so instead we...

So Tyson went to Nan's for the night and we wanted to take full advantage of some Mommy and Dalton time. we had planned to go to Oshawa to the water slides. Dalton had been looking forward to it all summer.
Unfortunately, it was raining. Again. Darin was working in Kingston but his friend Brian was working in Oshawa keeping us updated on the weather. Each and every time he called it was to report clouds and or rain. Dalton was so disappointed. So I decided we would do the next best thing.
We went to the Ramada inn. They have a water slide. It's all you can ride for $8.00. That includes access to the pool indoor, slide, outdoor pool and games room. So we headed in about 1pm since it wasn't looking optimistic for Oshawa.
Dalton had a great time regardless. There were no other kids there so he and I were the only ones on the slide for about an hour. I lost count on how many times he went down. But I know he had fun. We went out into the outdoor pool for a while too while the lifeguards had their break. Wouldn't you know it though, by 3 pm the sun was out shining brightly!
Figures.
Then it was back to the indoor pool and slide.
He had a ton of fun and today wasn't a waste after all!! He asked to go again. Maybe we'll wait till Christmas break and bring Tyson with us. He'd love the slide!
I guess he finally had enough about 5pm and we headed home to made Dad some supper. We had a great Mommy & Dalton Day!! Thanks Babe!

The floor and a good movie...

Told ya it wouldn't take long. Ian and the boys had the floor done today before they left. I was thrilled to see it when we got home.Where were we you ask??
I took Dalton to see Wall E . It was very cute and I liked it very much. Dalton thought it was great. I thought it was almost scary on how technology is changing the world that this movie could one day almost be true.
Otherwise it was very entertaining and I loved Wall E!
Tyson is at Nanny & Poppa's trailer for the next couple of days because we are going to try to go to the water slides tomorrow. Tyson said he is going on his vacation. If the weather hold off. I am so sick of this summer and the rain!

The beams are in place...

So this morning a strapping young group of men (4 of them) showed up at the house and worked away for the day getting the beams in place. Doesn't seem like much but to me it's a big thing!! Means that soon a floor will be happening.
The guys all seem really nice, they say hello every time Tyson yells hello, out the window at them then they laugh. I found out later, that the boss, Ian has four boys of his own so he though it was cute.

Thinking of Mark and Trisha ...and the modem

I am thinking or Mark our Pastor his daughters and his wife Trisha who passed last year much before her time. It has been a hard year for Mark and I know his faith has been challenged with his Wife and Mom passing both this year.
We are thinking of him and wishing him the best. Say a little prayer for him. He is one of the nicest people I know. I cannot Thanks him enough for all the kindness that he and the church have shown us since our house fire.
I know he has tried to stay busy to keep his mind occupied, but I am afraid that will all catch up with him sooner or later. He was once a sick man and I think a great deal of him. I know he and his girls will be fine but my thoughts are with them all the same.
On another note though in that crazy storm the other night my modem was fried. So until I get it fixed it may be a few days the way hp is going!! Wish me luck!
** Edited. Sick of HP giving me the run around 3 weeks later and went a bought one myself!

Fishing & Wood is here!

My little family and I decided that we would go out and try Daddy's new boat. He got it last year but didn't have much of an opportunity to try it out. So away we went. Tyson had never been out in the boat before so it was a new adventure for him. But keep reading because I'm quite sure that it wasn't a good one!
It was semi late in the morning when we went out. About 10am or so. Late for the fish but okay to try the boat and have the kids throw the line out some. Tyson was eager to get back with Dad so he could make him proud and catch a fish. Like he knew what that meant at the time! But all proud of himself was he! Cute eh?
Dalton just sitting and waiting for a bite. And waiting.. and waiting!
Tyson 5 minutes later already bored and looking for a snack. But as a good mother I came prepared knowing the only thing they would be eating today was what I brought.
Oh he had his snack and is ready to try this thing called fishing again!
Dalton was just bored at this point. See the enthusiasm. We had been out for 3 hours at this point and not even a bite.
So we got to Deseronto and we noticed that some black clouds were coming in. So Darin said well we had better head back. So about 20minutes later we hit the rain. About Shannonville. It was windy cold raining and Darin is the only one sitting in his seat the three of us are all cuddled up on the floor trying to stay safe and dry.
So now you understand why I said it wasn't a good experience. But it gets better. We get back to the dock load up the boat. And head home. The further we get towards town it gets darker. Then it starts hailing...like dice! I am glad we missed that in the boat it would have hurt! So we are going down a country road towards town and I said to Darin my goodness I have never seen clouds that low to the ground before they were just above the tops of the buildings in this area of town. Darin commented and said yeah they do look odd.
No more thought of it and we headed on home, drove out of the hail, and into rain again. So we made it home safe and sound.
So here is the kicker get ready!!

Tina and Mike call us about 2 hours later and said did you hear that a tornato went past our house??? We were about a mile from thier house two hours before that... Hail, low clouds... sound familiar. I just about crapped my pants!! I couldn't believe it!
Everyone was fine just a little damage to trees and tents and one barn.
But still I couldn't believe it.
Where were we???? Fishing! In a tornato!! Then drove thru it!
HOLY!
When we got home it was sunny at our house and we had noticed that there was a nice pile of beams, posts, chipboard, tyvac, nails and wood all stacked up on what we like to call our front lawn.
Looks like we might see some action this week. Let's hope.

Water fun

There wasn't a whole lot happening at the house today so I decided that I would take the kids to Trenton today to play at the water park and ship. They love that park. The water park and the large amount of play equipment keeps them busy and they just run back and forth.
I didn't put Tyson's headband on thinking he would be OK. All he did was run through all the fountains that shoot out of the ground! Little bugger! Figures! All he did was run around. Finally I had to go into the water park just to keep track of him amongst all the other kids. I didn't want to be an interactive mom today! LOL!
I went home almost as wet as them!
Dalton likes to stay at the water stations and either have water dumped on him or spray others. He tried to reach me too! Haha. I stayed far enough away he couldn't reach.
Tyson tried to stop the spays but that didn't happen.... and then he would laugh his head off!
After the water park they zoomed around on the equipment and played to dry off. nanny called and they were at our house looking for us. So we packed up and met them at their house. We had a fun day.

The backfill and..yup..more rain

Collin came and back filled the house today with the baby "tractor" as Ty called it. It was a great day at first but the rain wasn't far behind. It started to pour, he was almost done. It thundered and lightening all around us and he worked away. brave man. ( found out later he was scared crap less because he has been electrocuted before by lightening) so as I said brave man. But he did get it done.
Now it is safer for the kids to go out and play in the yard without falling into the hole!!
Looks better huh??

The key....

The key..... Can you imagine what it is for??? Something Darin would love to own and the kids would love to play on.
It's a baby loader as I call it! Tyson and Dalton were so excited when it arrived. I'm sure that tomorrow they won't move far from the windows as Collin back fills the house with this little gem. Gotta go hide the key know before Darin gets home from work.. Hahaha!

And then came the webbing...

So I don't know what to think of this new method of webbing it is called but we'll see if it works. It is suppose to seal your basement for leaks. And well we do live in Foxboro which is a flood plain even though we are above it.
This draining board goes on first after the black coat seal.
Then the webbing.
Then the tar caulk the top and put a beading rail around it.
Then comes the gravel around the house.
And Gravel in the house.
So I'll let you know how we make out and if we have any water problems.
I am hoping not!

Rain, Rain go away...

Now I knew I had a swimming pool but I didn't know that I wanted another. There was about 3 inches of water in the basement of the house over the weekend. They are having to pump it out everyday. It is so frustrating. For us as well as them. Reason being is it really slows them down getting things completed.
Apparently the normal rainfall in July is 79inches but so far this July it is already over 169 inches. It would figure!

Happy 37th Birthday to Me! OR NOT!

I had to work today and it just seemed that if anything could go wrong today there it would. Everyone seemed to be just in a grumpy mood. I wasn't but by the time it was time to come home I was. The people were just not cooperating. i have been on holidays and wasn't keen on returning to work, but after about and hour I was wishing I hadn't.
Other than that my birthday was OK. one of my closest friends just sent me a face book message which was really GREAT! Note my sarcasm. I believe in technology but it is nice to hear a voice on a special day like your birthday.
Regardless, I got presents and money and my kids had lots of kisses for me.
After all what more could I ask for??

The park... and the bbq

We had to go to Marmora today to get a motor for Darin's boat. So on the way home we stopped at the Dairy bar and got some wedgies and went to the park and let the kids have some fun playing as well as eat our lunch.
The park is new not very old at all. It is a playground and skateboard park. The wedgies were really hot and Tyson couldn't even hold them to eat it so he and Daddy sat together and had a little visit. It was a beautiful day. We have had nothing but rain lately so it was nice to see!
Of course hot or not, Dalton got those fries into him so he could get out playing. And to drive his brother crazy of course.
Tyson had a great time once he got to it. He loves the slides now. he wouldn't go near one for the longest time.
Dalton really liked this funky climber.
So what do you think do they love each other?? I think so in general is just getting along together is the problem. That is normal right???
So tonight we are going to a welcome baby BBQ for Mark and Jamie. It is Jamie's third baby but Mark's first. So they didn't want to make a big deal about it. They asked for best wishes only but we bought them a diaper pail.Mandatory for anyone having a baby. Mark was upset by this but I told him if I wanted to get something for Jamie and the baby he should be happy that his friends think that much of him to do that.
As I have been told for the last few months. Shut up accept it and appreciate that people care that much about you.
That night at the party. We found out that they are now engaged. So congratulations to them on all accounts. Looking forward to the wedding and meeting new baby Ward. Sorry I didn't get a picture but I spent all my time that night keeping Tyson out of the ditches and culverts. Nothing but good times!
( Note the sarcasm)

Crystals, oh what fun!!

Today Dalton wanted to make a crystal project from his book. He got this book with his passing money the second last day of school at the book fair. Only my kids wants to do projects in the summer.
I dunno.
Anyhow, I suppose he could be interested in worst things. So for some reason Tyson slept in this morning with dad and he decide that he wanted to get the book out and make one of the projects in it. So we did and this is how it turned out.
I must admit it was kinda cool.
First we started out with this little crate paper tree and a package of potassium. It all comes in the kit.
So he poured it on the dish and it slowly crept up the tree.
After about five minutes and the whole tree was wet, it started to form crystals on the ends of the tree.
After and hour it looked like it had snowed in the house. Just on this little tree. Like I said it was very cool. He was so excited about how it turned out. There are about 20 different types of crystals that he can make. I'm sure before the summer is out he will.
Without a doubt!

And then there were basement walls.....

The guys showed up about 10am this morning. I didn't think the way it was going that we were going to see anyone this week. Needless to say though they did. Once the guys got their stuff unloaded and got down to work it didn't take them long at all. This picture was at 10:20 when they arrived...

This picture was about 10:40am.....This picture was at 11:10am... Walls are up just need supports and outside rail up.

Then the cement pump truck arrived at 12:00pm. And filled all the supports. Tyson thought that was the coolest thing.

They were all very friendly and talked away to the kids who asked tons of questions from the trailer window. The guys thought that they were very funny. Especailly Tyson when the cement truck and cement pump truck arrived and he got his grizzly little voice going..."OH the cement truck" he'd say in his deep wolfy voice.

I was actually amazed at how quickly they finished. They started at 10:30am putting up the framing for the walls. By 2:30 they were all packed up and ready to leave the job. Tools away cement poured the whole bit.
I was shocked! But super glad to see it done!
