Belleville Waterfront Festival and Folklorama

This weekend starts the annual Waterfront festival. For some people it was just a good time the get plastered. But this year they changed the whole set up and there wasn't any bands past 11pm so that it was going to be a "family" weekend. More about the actually festival and not all the drunks wandering around.
So tonight started out with the $24.00 bracelet waterfront warm up. The kids all buy the band and can ride unlimited rides until 10 pm.
Darin was working so I took the kids. Tyson isn't fond of that sort of stuff but he liked to see all the kids and watch the rides. Dalton on the other hand LOVES the rides.
So we got there around 4pm and stayed till about 8:30 pm when all the teenagers started to arrive and take over the park. No matter, Tyson had had enough and it was bed time. So Dalton got a good amount of riding in. We lost count after 30 or so rides.
ZERO GRAVITY
This particular ride was Dalton's favorite this year. He went on it at least 15 times! He had never been big enough to get on it . He is the 4the fellow in from the left on the top. No fear.
He liked the train roller coaster too but he said it was a little babyish for him....what like he is 20??? Kids I tell ya!
As you can see by the clouds behind Dalton we though that it was going to thundershower for a bit but it passed right by us! Thank goodness! When we came home, it had rain quite heavily here.

We ran into friends of ours Sue & Jeff and their kids. So Dalton went around with them for a bit . The boys jumped around in those air castles so hard that I felt bad for any other kids inside with them.

Tyson though the best part of the whole night was the slushy and the french fries! He had fun too despite that he doesn't like the rides!
There will be lots to share with Waterfront so stay tuned!

Finally a week's holidays!

Well today starts the beginning of a weeks holidays for me. I cannot wait I have lots that I want to get done and finally some time to do it. Seems like it was just yesterday that I returned to work from maternity leave. Hard to believe it has been a year already.
I hope the weather stays nice but I have a feeling that it isn't. They are calling for thunderstorms on and off all week. Wish me luck on getting all my stuff done!
Not to mention that I get to spend some time with my favorite two boys! I'm sure I'll have some picks to share this week!

Finally Warm Weather!

Finally, some nice warm weather so we could actually get into the pool at a reasonable temperature! Johnathan was playing with Tyson in the pool here. Making motor boat sounds and running him around the pool. He loved it and had tons of fun with him. Johnathan is staying with us for most of the summer to babysit the two boys. They are both growing quite attached to him.
Tyson comes out of his bedroom every morning and keeps saying...."Johnny, Johnny, Johnny" and runs around looking for him. Even though he might not be there. He was quite a bad boy the first few days John was here watching them. But now that he is more used to him he has been much better. it has been nice just being able to leave home and go straight to work instead of having to pack up the kids and their stuff and go to the babysitters first. I could get used to it!
So we actually got in the pool the kids had a great time and it cooled them off. I didn't put Tyson's headband on be we were ever so careful not to get his ears under the water.
Dalton has become quite the little swimmer too. He doesn't seem to mind the temperature no matter what it is. Brr not this girl. I love my pool but not under 72*.
He also loves the slide. He gets in and out all day long.
I hope the warm weather stays and we get to enjoy the pool more this summer!

Off to the trailer he goes!

Yesterday Dalton was invited to Nanny's & Poppa's trailer. We were in town already and didn't have his stuff packed, so he couldn't go back with them. They were having the kids fishing derby. Dalton participated last year in it and had a great time.
Anyway, I packed up Daddy's saddle bags with clothes and pj's etc and Daddy and he went for a long bike ride. Dalton thought that was great. He really enjoyed himself. he likes to ride on the back of the bike and his tiny fanny actually fits on it!
Nanny met them at the top of the trailer park so they wouldn't have to wake everyone up. It was early when they took off. Jesse was at the trailer too which made it all the more fun for Dalton.
Unfortunately, the weather was very windy and they had to cancel the derby for the kids. No matter though, Dalton had a great time anyway!!
Thanks Nanny & Poppa!!

LIBRARY CARD!!

Library card.
That was the most exciting thing that happened today.
For Dalton anyway. He was so excited. We recently (just this year) got a new library in Belleville. I am really wanting him to keep up his excellent reading ability over the summer. So I asked him if he would like to get a library card. of course he said yes! So today we went and got him one. He was so proud of himself!
The woman at the library was happy to see a young man so excited about getting a new library card. She showed him how to find a book on the computer...
Apparently no more card catalogue like when we were kids! Now he can just type in the kind of book he wants and it tells him where to find it.
She also showed him how to find his favorite section of books, trucks. Also where all the new books go before they are ready for distribution. He was able to join a book club to win prizes. For every ten books he reads or has read to him, he gets a ballet for a prize. They have 12- 15 different things for the kids to choose from. For example, wonderland tickets, supper out, movie tickets, Ontario place tickets, theatre tickets and so on.
So on his first visit to the library we left with four books. He read one on the way home. For a boy who said he only reads because I want him too he was pretty excited about it. When I asked him how he liked that library compared to his school library he said "Mom... it rocked"
So now this will be a weekly trip that we will stop and do regularly. It seems that he is eager to go again. I won't tell him he is learning! It will wreck the whole adventure for him!

Fluffy & Ducky!

Well, here is my little duck friend. He will be going to Afghanistan. Jolene George ( a blogger friend I have made) has a son that is in the war. He is just 19. I do not envy her one bit! His name is Chad. They are a wonderful family and please feel free to click on her link at the bottom of my page. However, Jolene has asked that her friends and anyone really, send a duck to Chad. To help him remember how to run and hide "duck" while at war.
Dalton picked this little one out. He has a little hard hat on. Short of a helmet it seems pretty fitting. I will be mailing it to Jolene so if anyone else would like to send a duck, just get it to me and I will send it with mine or feel free to visit Jolene's page and get Chad's address to mail yourself. I have had an awful time trying to mail things because I guess they go to New York first before Afghanistan which confuses the post office.
Since I have no family in the war, thank goodness, all I can think is that if it makes Chad happy for a moment it was worth it. Not much to ask to keep us safe.

He's a cutie eh?

Now on to the fluff part of this post.
Jolene has made this lovely chart for us "fluffy" girls. To take part in this group of people to help make their life a little healthier.
I have been trying to be good for about a month now and with the assistance and reminder of the fluffy girls chart, I have managed to lose 14 pounds so far. I am feeling much better, and want to lose more too!
I am back to my 6 km walk daily even with the kids. That has to be the most challenging part...
Have you met my children???

So feel free to email me to join the fluffy girls club and borrow the chart. Thanks Jolene for your creativity!
Keep up the good work Fluffy girls!

Note: This is not a diet! It is a way to improve your life and be healthy. But if it helps you can call it a diet. But Diet is also another word for failure in my case!

HAPPY CANADA DAY !!
Happy holiday for all of you Canadians, and Independence day in a few days for all you Americans. Holidays in the summer are so great there is always lots going on.
Today Darin, Dalton, Grandma, Roger, and out neighbour Frank went out for a long 4 wheeler ride. The trails will be great since it rained so hard yesterday. Really takes down the dust. I didn't go, my bike currently has no insurance and Tyson will go on the bike but he gets bored with it quick ( like everything) and I don't like to tie him on it. I just would rather stay home. better safe than sorry. So I did the laundry that I couldn't finish yesterday because of the rain.
That was my excitement for the day. Tonight though we went to the fireworks in Belleville. We loved them as always and Tyson learned a new word.
IDIOT
We were sitting by Tim Hortons and some guy pulled out screeching his tires and there are tons of people and kids sitting along side the road. So Darin says. "that guy is such and idiot" It would figure that the only word that Tyson would pick up in that sentence was idiot. We heard it all the rest of the night any time he heard a noise he didn't like.
Again sorry there is no title. Blogger must definitely be experiencing problems.
Hope your holiday is or will be a good one!
Happy Canada Day!
